USA Fencing’s Race Imboden, Miles Chamley-Watson and Lee Kiefer Headline International Field Ahead of Tokyo 2020
MADRID – The Olympic Channel global digital platform presents LIVE streaming coverage of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Foil Grand Prix in Anaheim, California, USA. Coverage of the semi and final rounds from the Anaheim Convention Centre begins at 18:30 (PDT) on Sunday, 17 March and will be available worldwide at olympicchannel.com and on its mobile apps. In the U.S., no TV subscription is required to watch the live stream for this event.From Friday, 15 March to Sunday, 17 March, more than 300 fencers will compete at the second foil event of the 2019 Grand Prix series, which comes back to Anaheim for the second consecutive year.
Highlighting this year’s event are reigning world champion Alice Volpi (ITA) and Olympic bronze medallist Race Imboden (USA), the champions of the first foil Grand Prix event that took place in Turin, Italy earlier this year. Other fencers to look out for are defending champion and top-ranked Inna Deriglazova (RUS), and number two-ranked Alessio Foconi (ITA).
Alongside Imboden representing the host country and scheduled to compete are Olympic bronze medallist and 2013 world champion Miles Chamley-Watson, Olympic bronze medallist and 2018 Worlds team silver medallist Gerek Meinhardt, double Olympic medallist Alexander Massialas and 2018 Worlds team gold medallists Lee Kiefer, Nicole Ross and Margaret Lu.
The FIE 2019 Grand Prix Series features a total of nine events, three events for each weapon: epee, foil and sabre. Remaining stops of the 2019 Grand Prix Series include Seoul, Korea (sabre), Cali, Colombia (epee), Shanghai, China (foil), and Moscow, Russia (sabre) to close the series.
