MADRID – The bodies of six Olympic athletes are pushed to the max to find out what it takes to be an elite athlete in the new Olympic Channel Original Series Anatomy of. The six-episode series is available exclusively on the Olympic Channel digital platform.

With the help of sports science, Anatomy of examines the physiques and unique body characteristics of Olympic athletes to reveal what makes them special. Through physically exhausting tests and expert analysis, elite athletes demonstrate their physiological prowess and anatomical features that have powered them to the top of their sports.

In the premiere episode, Swedish snowboarder and 2014 Winter Olympian Sven Thorgren demonstrates his all-round athleticism in a world-class sports science lab as he looks ahead to PyeongChang 2018. Following body composition analysis and speed, strength and endurance tests, experts discovered that Sven’s physiology is similar to an elite sprinter.

“I think a lot of people underestimate snowboarders because they see us as kids that just have fun …,” Sven said of his experience. “But there’s a lot of work behind it, and I think most snowboarders are really strong and healthy.”

Future episodes test the strength of rugby player and Olympic silver medallist Tom Mitchell (GBR), the balance of diver Yona Knight-Wisdom (JAM), the heart rate of biathlete Monika Hojnisz (POL), the flexibility of world champion gymnast Vanessa Ferrari (ITA), and the stamina of cyclist Jolanda Neff (SUI).

Anatomy of was produced in association with IMG, a global leader in sports, events, media and fashion.
