MADRID – The Olympic Channel, the over-the-top (OTT) global media destination where fans can discover, engage and share in the power of sport and the excitement of the Olympic Games all year round, will present LIVE online coverage of “Sal 2019”, the inaugural 2019 African Beach Games, which take place 14-23 June, in Cape Verde.
Sal 2019 takes place on the beach of Santa Maria, Sal Island, and will be the largest sporting event to be held within the small island country of Cape Verde which is located west of Senegal in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Approximately 1,000 athletes from 54 countries from the African continent will compete in 11 sports including athletics, 3×3 basketball, beach handball, beach soccer, beach tennis, beach volleyball, sea rowing, freestyle football, karate kata, kiteboarding and open water swimming.

In addition to the competition, the African Beach Games will have a strong cultural component comprised of local music, food, dance and national and African products while also raising awareness about sustainability and ocean protection.
