MADRID – Ever wonder what it takes to train like an Olympian? In an all new season of Hitting the Wall, fitness influencers travel the world to take on the intense workouts of Olympic athletes. The twelve-episode original series premieres worldwide on Tuesday, 27 November on the Olympic Channel at olympicchannel.com and its mobile apps.
Each 8-10-minute episode of Hitting the Wall features a duo of fitness experts challenging themselves to the training regimens of Olympic athletes in 12 different sports including, athletics, boxing, canoe, gymnastics, ice dancing, rowing, ski cross, sport climbing, artistic swimming, taekwondo, water polo and wrestling.
Team USA gymnast and two-time Olympic medallist Laurie Hernandez of New Jersey is known for her big smile when performing, but demonstrates the dedication and toughness required of an elite athlete to compete at the highest level.
“In my gymnastics career I definitely felt that I hit a lot of walls,” said Hernandez. “But pushing through the hard moments made me a better athlete and a better person.”
In addition to demanding workouts, Great Britain’s Joe Clarke, who won gold at the Rio Games in the K1 canoe slalom event, visualises his goals to keep himself motivated.
“The thought of the next Olympics, standing at the top of the podium, hearing the national anthem, what motivates me to keep going”, said Clarke.
In addition to Hernandez and Wiebe, the second season of Hitting the Wall also includes 2017 World Champion in the steeplechase and Olympian Emma Coburn of the USA, ski cross Olympic gold medallist Brady Leman of Canada, Italy’s 2014 world champions in ice dancing and Olympians Luca Lanotte and Anna Cappellini, Team GB Olympians Tom Ransley in rowing and two-time medallist Lutalo Muhammad in taekwondo.
